Adjust $ values for inflation

After you're done creating your report, you can change the $ inflation adjustment year. This allows you to compare money-related data from different decades easily. The inflation adjustment dropdown appears automatically when a table with $ values is present in the report.

1. Click the dropdown menu next to Adjust $ values for inflation.
2. Select the year you want to adjust $ values to.

You can change the $ inflation adjustment year in all three tabs: Report tab, Excel tab, and Data Download tab.

When adjusting bracketed variables (as in the image above), Social Explorer keeps the same brackets, but redistributes the population values according to the adjustment. This is done so that brackets stay the same and comparable across years. Read more about the methodology of $ inflation adjustment here.
