Set up automatic authentication
For institutional administrators
Most institutions will set up their access via IP-authentication, but we also offer other ways to access Social Explorer:
- IP authentication
This is the most common authorization method for universities and other institutions that keep track of their IP address ranges. This method can be used to provide access from all on-site computers and the wifi network. - EZproxy
Social Explorer supports EZproxy authentication. A customizable middleware program that provides access to the library's licensed content for remote users by facilitating a single sign-in using existing library-issued credentials or username and password. - Federation/Shibboleth/OpenAthens
Social Explorer supports Federation/Shibboleth/Athens access method. To set this up, you will need to provide us with your Organization ID and Entity ID. For more information please contact us at support@socialexplorer.com. - Referrer URLs
For institutions that provide a password protected page that links to Social Explorer. If the user is behind a proxy, the x_forwarded_for property can also be used, which most proxy servers will set to allow the correct referrer to be retained and identified.
