You can now create and save custom made templates to your Social Explorer account. With this new feature, you no longer have to re-select tables every time you create a report. You can now save your desired list of tables as a template and return to it whenever needed. All saved lists will also be available on all comparable surveys. For example, if you save a template with a list of tables from the ACS 2019 5-Year Survey, you will be able to use that template on all other ACS 5-Year Surveys.
Not only does this new feature save you time, but it also makes discovering trends through data analysis efficient and effortless!
There are three ways to create and save custom templates; directly from the Social Explorer dashboard, by using the reports tool, or from an already created report using the mapping interface.
To create a new template through the Social Explorer dashboard, click on “Create New” in the top left corner. You will have the option to choose from a variety of different Social Explorer projects. Next, click on “Report Template.”
Choose from a variety of different projects, including the new Report Template option.
You will then have the option of choosing your survey of interest and the tables you would like to explore. Once you have selected all the parameters of your new report template, click “Save Template.” Finally, give your newly created template a name, and it will be saved in your projects under the template tab for quick access and future use.
Choose from a long list of different surveys and years.
Select your table/s of interest.
Name your newly created template for easy future access.
View all saved templates through “My Projects” under the “Templates” tab.
You can save report templates directly from our new reports tool as well. Once you have created your desired report, click the “more options” drop down menu in the top right corner. Click “Save List of Tables,” and your list of tables from the report will be automatically saved in your projects. Please note that this option is only available on the new reports tool and not on older versions of reports by Social Explorer.
Save reports directly from the new reports tool.
You can also create reports directly from maps using your saved templates. Once you have created and saved custom templates, they will appear on the Create report option on Social Explorer maps. Under the “Topic” dropdown, all of your saved templates will be displayed for the selected source or survey. If you have created templates for different surveys, be sure to change the survey in the “source” dropdown menu and your saved template will appear.
Your saved reports will appear in the “topic” dropdown menu on or mapping interface.
